A month later
Their relationship was different from everyone else’s they would meet in the morning two hours before the school bell rang she would always be the first to arrive and at the tree behind the administration block is where they would always meet. As he walked towards her she felt her legs losing power like noodles brought from fresh from boiling water, staring at his perfect statue how he walked confident like he had the world on his shoulders. Reaching closer his wide bright brown eyes came to contrast he was always alert and for a moment she would let her mind wonder into how much he’d changed from the hopeless guy he had met a month ago into a gentlemen he was know. With a quarter moon smile on his handsome face he gave her a hug not those half ones but that kind of hug you get from that girl/boy you like the one that you want to think of before you sleep and a soft kiss on the cheek which made her whole body vibrate afterwards. Word after word they kept on talking sharing ideas flirting playing around all those who randomly passed them by saw this stood still gazing at admired them they didn’t even realize that it was time to go for the Shona lesson, he the one who had been turned to a motivated individual realized it was time for the lesson but she did not want him to go. She explained, “my friends told me not to let out my feelings often because it leads you to pain but honestly my feelings for you are” he stopped her right there put his left hand on her lips, “shhhhh … yea I know your feelings for me are growing each day, so what If we finish this up after the lesson. They went their separate ways drunk in love, embracing the moment. Blessing who was getting better in school (although he didn’t like the idea of reading and school generally later he opted to becoming a musician), now dressed more like a school student and everyone admired this especially Lassa and Blessing’s mom but she also was confused if it was good for him to have a girlfriend, she had seen them a lot of times as for her she thought love was too deep and complicated for them to be playing around with It. Then they met again right after the lesson and they were again lost in each other’s company none of them ever said anything about the love they felt for each other because sometimes silence can be a great art of conversation.
It was on a Saturday morning there was constant arguing as always between Blessing and his mom “why mom why it’s a Saturday” he said and his mom replied “because unoita rombe mwanangu wake up izvezvi!”. He hated it his dream had been cut off at the best moment when he was on stage the crowd screaming his name “Blessing! blessing! blessing! “he ordinarily he wouldn’t have listened to her but because of that girl the reason mom woke him up on Saturday became clearer each day. Blessing sat up prayed before stepping out of the blankets for the lord to keep his love safe then spread his blankets and cleaned his room. She started shouting louder (his mom) “muka iwe” he ignored her intentionally knowing she would come fetching him if she heard no reply for so long. Baaaaam the door swung open he looked at her with that shy smile and as for her she was speechless her son’s room was smelling good the shoes were in order packed in the cupboard below the shirts perfectly placed on the hanger. She looked at him slowly walked to his bed and gave him a hug “keep it up ndokuti mwna kah uku” she smiled and walked away she was stunned she was happy but confused she decided to wait and figure out what had happened to her son. He said ,‘mom I’ve been giving this a lot of thought lately that I’ve had this talent ever since I was born and I’ve always taken it for granted but know I want to focus on it and practice”. So mom can you do me the biggest of favors and give me at least ten dollars, can i go record a song. Ever since he was a kid he’s been listening to urban music trying to copy the greats. He mostly remembered singing along to Lil Wayne’s amili with a stick as a microphone and his door closed shut. He was always shy about wanting to be a rapper he feared how his close friends would say and think if he sucked at it he thought ‘would they tell him the truth or would they just tell him you’re a good rapper? What if they hated the idea of him being a rapper? What if he failed to be a rapper and ended up wasting a good part of his life instead of being like his friends who spent their time getting drunk having fun and living each day as if it were their last” . The girl had changed all that she was encouraging, motivating and most importantly told him the truth all the time. She would say “be the best version of yourself you can ever be if the world hates that do it anyways and she continued “you can never be good enough for everyone, sometimes .Blessing your kindness can be your greatest weakness learn to channel it and it will work in your favor. Blessing had started to realize how his actions impact reality how he can change his life, the good sweet girl and the bad stupid guy had found their rare sparks in life. He came home late that day tired he went right off to bed, he had a lot of things to worry about; to improve more should be able to create music that touched the hearts of listeners he had to bear with the idea that being a rapper was going to take time. For once he had done a relevant thing in his life even if it was for a single day it was the start of something bigger.
As for Lassa she couldn’t get him out of his thought sometimes her grandfather would get agitated and turn the house upside-down shouting for the girl to hurry with his food while she daydreamed all the moments they had spent together and ended up smiling on her own. She had fell for Blessing’s realness his humor his accommodative character she told him everything and he would listen like she was the only girl in the world, he could suit whatever complication she could throw at him and he really found something unique in this girl a girl who could make him smile who made him forget all the flaws of this world. The two were reckless they moved the right way but too quick and others told them this is too good for them to be together both set of friends were against the idea of their relationship .He was more than he had ever been and she would gladly accept what Blessing wanted her to do they were amazing together blew the world away the sweetest couple they had ever seen with the difference in complexion making everyone look when they walked down the neighborhood and through the class corridors it was utopia for the guy .Unfortunately as they say nothing lasts forever the two started arguing very often and loud Blessing’s demand were too much for the little girl. On the long term this put a lot of stress on Lassa she wanted to love this guy with her whole heart she really did but, could she trust him grandfather had told her she was changing and he hated it “I told you always be happy tell me what’s going on?”, “nothing paps nothing im just thinking of my grades” she would say.
